Some storms skirt around you. Others connect.
Exactly a year ago tomorrow, a really big one skirted around my family—by a few blocks at the most. The severe impact of the “Great Nashville Flood” is still being felt by many homeowners and businesses.
And this past week a savage series of tornadoes killed more than 300 people in the South. We had a few quick tornado warnings in my town and a couple of restless nights with heavy thunderstorms, but that was about it.
Other metaphorical “storms” have smacked me around a bit more as of late. But I’m still standing, seeing the hand of God in my life as never before.
I don’t have the answer for why some storms hit and others pass us by. I’m simply trying to pay attention to grace and be available for compassion, in whatever circumstances.
